The best-dressed birds
Copper, gold and green — the best-dressed birds on the farm.
Pheasants were brought to New Zealand as game birds in the nineteenth century and have been part of the rural landscape ever since. The males wear all the colour; the females keep a quieter brown so they can disappear into the grass.
Look for ours strutting along the fence lines — they're hard to miss when the sun catches them.
